What are anti-wrinkle injections?
When we concentrate, squint or frown the muscles in our face contract. This along with other environmental and lifestyle factors such as ageing, sun exposure, dehydration, smoking, gravity and poor nutrition causes lines and wrinkles to form and eventually become permanent. Anti-wrinkle injections are a natural protein that works by interrupting this process, leaving those muscles unable to crease the skin therefore reducing any wrinkles and giving a flawless complexion. It is non-surgical treatment that helps to improve and maintain the appearance of your skin.

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
Anti-wrinkle treatment enters the body via an injection into a muscle, temporarily paralysing the area and stopping it from moving. Our practitioner will gently inject the botulinum toxin using a very fine needle.
The procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes allowing you to carry on with your daily routine as normal.
What brands do you use?
We only use premium brands such as Botox® and Bocouture® to make sure they are of the highest quality.
On which areas can anti-wrinkle injections be used?
Anti-wrinkle injections are mainly administered around the face particularly the forehead, crows feet, worry lines and around the eyes and the frown lines between the eyes on the bridge of the nose (glabellar wrinkles). Anti-wrinkle injections can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Am I suitable for the anti-wrinkle injections?
Botulinum Toxin is a prescription only medicine. This means that you should have a face to face consultation with a licensed prescriber to assess whether you are suitable for treatment.
You can’t have anti-wrinkle injections if:
– you are pregnant or breastfeeding,
– you are suffering from a skin injection near the treatment area,
– you previously had an allergic reaction to botulinum toxin treatment
– you are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin
– you have neurological issues or are taking certain medications
Are anti-wrinkle injections painful?
Although everyone’s pain threshold is different, generally there is no more discomfort than say plucking an eyebrow. So, you may get a slight temporary stinging sensation. We can apply topical local anaesthetic if needed.
Can anti-wrinkle injections be reversed?
Although the injection itself can’t be reversed, there are things that can be done to improve your look if you are not happy with it. The effects of the anti-wrinkle injections will wear off within 3-6 months, but until then tweaks can be made, which is why we offer a review appointment 2 weeks after initial treatment to make any minor adjustments. Usually the problem is too little product used, as it’s better to add more later to even out your features than overdo it at the beginning. Another option may be to use dermal fillers instead, as this can be reversed/dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?
Millions of people have used anti-wrinkle injections over the years to minimise the signs of aging. Providing the injections are administered by an experienced practitioner, the procedure is very safe with complications being extremely rare. The aesthetic practitioner should be a doctor, nurse prescriber, dentist or a prescribing pharmacist. Known side effects include headaches, bruising, face pain, redness, skin tightness, muscle weakness, swelling, sensitivity, raised eyebrows and a droopy eyelid.

Is preventative Botox a good idea?
Recently a lot of younger women, in their 20s and early 30s started having a preventative Botox. Preventative Botox are injections that are supposed to prevent wrinkles. The message is that if you start young, you can stop wrinkles from ever appearing in the first place. We believe that this really depends on the individual. We recommend booking a free consultation with Shikha who will be able to advise you. If your skin isn’t ready for anti wrinkle injections, we may suggest an alternative treatment to rejuvenate your skin.
Can I exercise after anti wrinkle injections?
We don’t advise to exercise, sunbathe or sauna for 48 hours after anti wrinkle injections treatment. Exercise increases blood flow through the muscles and can potentially diffuse the Botox. Moreover, wiping sweat from your face becomes a mini-massage and can move the botulinum toxin to an untended area. We also advise not lying down for 4-6 hours after the treatment.

No, we do not recommend having anti-wrinkle injections while pregnant or breastfeeding.
