What is an anti-wrinkle injection?
An anti-wrinkle injection (e.g. Botox™) is one of the most popular and well-known treatments in the aesthetic beauty world, however, many people are still yet to discover exactly what this type of treatment can do for them and their appearance.
We’ve all heard of celebrities getting it, possibly friends and family too? But what exactly is it and what does it do? Our practitioner, Shikha Rishi, explains:
“An anti-wrinkle treatment enters the body via an injection into a muscle, temporarily paralysing the area and stopping it from moving. Anti-wrinkle injections are famously used for aesthetic purposes, treating vertical neck bands, grooves above the upper lip and preventing the deepening of lines. What many people don’t know is that they can also be used to treat medical concerns such as helping to ease migraines and correcting excess sweating.”
Anti-wrinkle injections can treat all manner of problematic areas and concerns, including:
– frown lines – by injecting these muscles you prevent the area from stretching and creating deep lines on the forehead
– “crow’s feet” – treating the delicate area around the eye stops these muscles from contracting, preventing deep lines from forming
– gummy smile – injecting this area brings down the top lip to reveal less gum when smiling
Is it important who I go to?
It is very important that you go to a fully trained clinician. Some people say they can feel heavy sensation or droopiness near their eyelids after treatment, that is because they have lost that ‘upwards pull’. Injectors have to be careful and thoroughly assess your anatomy to see how much you need before they administer the injection. Please make sure you go somewhere safe like Elegant Aesthetic.
