One of the most popular and commonly seen types of facial aesthetics, lip augmentation treatments are the route to a plumper, more pillowy pout. Lip fillers are a non-surgical treatment that has minimal downtime and minimal discomfort, yet can achieve impressive results.
What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are a type of dermal filler, which are most commonly used on the face. Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid as a key ingredient which, as we are seeing more and more in our skincare, is ultra-moisturising and revitalising for the skin. This hyaluronic acid, plus other nourishing and enhancing properties within the injectable, are used to ‘wake up’, voluminise and reshape the skin and lips in a way that is safe and non-invasive.
Dermal fillers can be used to plump and add volume to the lip, define shape and correct unevenness, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth, and increase hydration and elasticity.
Which injectables are used?
Shikha is skilled in administering dermal fillers and has been trained to use a variety of injectables. At Elegant we only use the highest quality, premium brands such as JUVÉDERM– one of the best fillers on the market. We will generally use either 0.5ml or 1ml of filler from the JUVÉDERM or premium JUVÉDERM VYCROSS range.
What happens in my consultation?
Beautiful lips come in many shapes and sizes, and we love them all! Here at Elegant Aesthetic we strive for stunning, natural-looking results that compliment your beauty. This is why we will always carry out a full consultation before going ahead with your lip plumping treatment, ensuring that both you and your practitioner have a clear understanding of the desired finish.
From explaining the procedure, discussing volume, shape and achieving a result to suit your face, to aftercare instructions and downtime, Shikha will discuss every detail with you to leave you feeling confident ahead of your appointment.
Does the procedure hurt?
The majority of fillers that we use at Elegant Aesthetic include a local anaesthetic, helping your treatment to feel more comfortable. Our dermal filler needles are ultra-fine, and we will always use a numbing cream to further minimise any discomfort. You may feel a slight stinging sensation during the procedure, but this will subside almost immediately.
What happens after lip enhancement treatment?
Your results will be instant, albeit with a little swelling and occasional bruising that will fully settle down within a fortnight. We advise that you take care of your lips by not applying makeup for 12 hours or so post-treatment, however there is little other downtime for lip augmentation. Shikha will provide you with aftercare advice to ensure that you feel comfortable, supported and safe upon leaving the clinic. We are always on hand to chat or provide check-ups after a procedure, so do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
Are lip fillers permanent?
Injectable lip fillers are not permanent, and can last from 6 to 12 months. This will usually depend on the patient, the type of filler used and the amount of filler injected.
Despite the temporary nature of dermal fillers, we encourage every patient to think carefully before going through with any aesthetics procedure. We will never pressure you or rush you into making a decision, and this way you can proceed with confidence on your Elegant journey. However, it is important to note that sometimes you may change your mind after seeing your results– and that’s okay.
Dermal fillers are reversible when administered by a fully qualified, certified practitioner. A responsible aesthetician will be able to offer a reversal service by using an injection of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves the filler safely. This is why it is so important to always book with a medically trained professional like ourselves.
Lip fillers are a wonderful way to boost your confidence and help you feel beautiful. If you feel ready to start your journey with Elegant Aesthetic, get in touch and book your consultation today.
