Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, also known as the ‘Vampire Facelift’ or ‘Dracula Therapy’ works on the basis that the body’s own natural healing powers may slow and even reverse the ageing process. It’s a revolutionary repair system that places growth factors in the exact location where we want the skin to repair and rejuvenate itself.
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment works by gathering platelets from the patient’s own blood in order to inject them into problem skin areas.
It starts with the extraction of a minimal amount of the patient’s blood. This is then placed in a centrifuge to spin down the blood which separates the red blood cells from the platelet rich plasma.
Platelets contain a high amount of “growth factors” which are the proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin. Immediately after re-injection the platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to grow, in turn stimulating repair, increasing volume and rejuvenating the skin.
The treatment takes 60-90 minutes.
Who is Platelet Rich Plasma therapy for?
We recommend this treatment if you are looking to improve the overall appearance of your skin and address deeper collagen formation.
What are the benefits of Vampire Facial?
Reduced fine lines and wrinkles
PRP works by stimulating collagen and elastin production which tightens thinning skin and effectively smoothes wrinkles and fine lines.
Tightens and tone skin and reduce acne scarring
PRP therapy not only boosts collagen but it’s also a great treatment for improving overall skin tone and texture. It’s particularly good for people who suffer from rosacea or acne.
It treats delicate and difficult to reach areas
PRP is very effective when dealing with difficult to treat areas, such as the delicate under eye area where clients often notice signs of ageing first.
It’s a natural type of cosmetic injectable
PRP uses your own natural element without the addition of any foreign products. The treatment works by drawing a small sample of your blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge for approximately 10 minutes to separate the plasma from other blood particles. The platelet rich plasma is then re-injected back into the treatment area to stimulate collagen production.
The PRP treatment is very effective for hair growth. It works wonders by increasing hair count, hair thickness, and the growth phase of the hair cycle.
Because the treatment uses your own natural elements, RPR is very safe for all skin types. It’s also not a new treatment. It has long been recognised and used in the hospital system and in sports medicine and its effective wound healing properties since the 1970s.
